Exactly what will be personalised?
As part of this offer, the main character's name will be personalised ('Scarlett' in the sample page below) with the option to personalise a second child's name too ('Josh' in the sample page). This could be a friend, a family member, even an imaginary friend or doll. This is a magical story, after all! If you don't select a second child option, I will use my daughter, Scarlett.
To get even more personalisation such as physical features, favourite phrases, pets, hobbies and more, you will need to purchase a digital download, or digital bundle (which includes an audiobook download). You can do this here.
How long is the story?
The exact length will depend on personalisation but it's around 8,000 words, and my 11-year-old daughter read it under an hour, so ideal reading for Christmas Eve night or the nights leading up to Christmas.
Can I read a sample?
Absolutely. See the sample below with my daughter as the main character. I've highlighted the names to show what's been personalised, but they won't be red in your order. This sample is best viewed on a desktop, but the story you will receive will be perfectly viewable on all devices. The font will also be crisper.
What happens after ordering?
Once you complete your purchase of Buried by Ice via my Buchanan Books store, you will receive an email with a link to a form where you can enter the details for your personalised story. What sort of age group is The Land Between Snow and Sky aimed at?
Any children who are at the stage of reading chapter books will be able to read the story themselves (so usually aged seven onwards). But it is suitable to be read out, or played to, younger children too. If it were a film, I would say it's a PG, similar to one of the Narnia films. There are no inappropriate moments, bad language or frightening content. But there are moments of light suspense and adventure that make it exciting and magical for all ages. Hopefully this is obvious, but this applies to The Land Between Snow and Sky, which is for children, not Buried by Ice, which is for adults!
What ages can the story be personalised for?
Up to 16 (or older, if the character is a child at heart!), including babies and children with mobility issues. You'll get the chance to indicate all this in your personalisation form, which you will be asked to fill out once you've made your order.
What if I make a mistake in the personalisation form?
Contact us as soon as possible after submitting the form. We’ll do our best to correct it before your story is finalised. Please double check the form before pressing send though to avoid this.
How long does it take to receive my order?
You should receive an email with your items within 7 days of you sending us your form.
